THE ASSOCIATION OF WORLD WAVESKI PROFESSIONALS PRESENTS:

THE WORLD WAVESKI TOUR

It's a great honour for the Association of World Waveski Professionals (AWWP) to welcome you as one of the world’s top Waveski riders to the first ever professional “World Waveski Tour” for 2007. (WWT).

The aim of the AWWP is to give waveski a new level of development: The very best riders competing at the best breaks with waiting periods to ensure participation in the best possible surf conditions. Hand in hand come manoeuvres growth, good media coverage and everything backed with prize money to all the riders. AWWP believes that the WWT is the key to make young boys and girls dream of waveskiing !

The WWT is structured for the top 16 MEN and top 6 WOMEN.

AWWP is well aware that travelling around the world is very expensive and that's why there is prize money for each rider to help you to participate in the contests. The total prize money for each country comes to USD 6000.

The format for competing is man on man with one reprechage for men and specialise flow for women. Judging criteria are those adapted from the International Surfing Federation.

The selection of riders qualifying for the WWT :

WWT 2007 Men’s flow, the AWWP has selected the top 6 OPEN riders from the World Waveski Championship 2006 (Durban, RSA) and the top 8 OPEN riders from the World Waveski Championship 2007 (New Zealand). AWWP also invites 2 extra wildcards to have a Top 16 contest for each event.

WWT 2007 Women’s flow, the top 2 WOMEN riders from the World Waveski Championship 2006 (Durban, RSA) and the top 2 WOMEN riders from 2007 (New Zealand) with 2 more wildcards invitations will be selected.

At the end of the first year of the WWT the top 8 Men will automatically qualify for the WWT 2008. The rest of the top 16 riders will be made up with the results from the World Waveski Championship 2007 New Zealand (top 6) with 2 more wildcards invitations from AWWP.

For the women, the top 2 highest scoring riders from the WWT 2007 and the top 2 from the World Waveski Championship 2007 (New Zealand) with 2 more wildcards invitations from AWWP will be used to make up the women riders for the WWT 2008.(Wildcard entries will be chosen by contest organisation committee with guidance from the AWWP.)

It’s normal that not all the riders qualified for the WWT can attend every leg of the tour. This is the reason why the AWWP organized a "standby" list taking in account the results from the last 2 World Waveski Championships. For example: If one of the top 16 Men can't attend an event, then the first rider on the a "standby" list will automatically replace that specific rider etc...

AWWP will run parallel with the World Waveski Surfing Association (WWSA) and this will also be the only way for new riders to qualify for the WWT through competing at the World Waveski Championships.

THANK YOU FOR JOINING the AWWP
